Marriage and Family Life Development Worker, Margaret Hinton, reports the words used by Bishop Edwin Regan in his pastoral letter to the Diocese of Wrexham, in which he announces the launch of the Marriage and Family Life Commission’s Diocesan Parish Family Challenge. The Challenge has been launched to mark the 7th World Meeting of Families, which is taking place in Milan this week from Wed 30th May to Sunday 3rd June.
The Commission has created a Parish Resource Pack containing information on The Family Groups’ Movement, the Catholic Grandparents’ Association, Parish Parent and Toddler Groups and other organisations which aim to strengthen parish community, through developing their family friendliness and sensitivity and helping parents to pass on their faith to their children and grandchildren.  Each parish in the Diocese is being called to trial at least one of the ideas presented in the Diocesan Parish Family Challenge and parishes are invited to apply to Wrexham’s Marriage and Family Life Commission for a Resource Pack.  For more information parishes should contact Margaret Hinton, who will also be available to offer advice and support in the development of these initiatives.

The Diocesan Parish Family Challenge logo was designed by 16 year-old Amira Mattar of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Buckley, and was chosen from entries to a competition, run by the Commission, for the children of the Diocese. It contains elements of the World Meeting of Families’ theme, the heart from the Celebrating Family logo and the outline of the Diocese of Wrexham.

The Project Office will be represented at the World Meeting of Families in Milan later this week and we hope to bring you news, stories and highlights from the event.
