We are delighted to welcome intern Susan Sullivan, from the University of Notre Dame, to the MFL Project Office.  For the next three months Sue will be combining her academic studies with working ten hours a week at Eccleston Square.  Her internship task is to catalogue the Listening 2004: My Family My Church archive. This major national initiative of the Bishops’ Conference acted as a catalyst for the Celebrating Family pastoral strategy in support of marriage and family life in England and Wales. Sue will be preparing the archive for online publication to mark the 10th anniversary of Listening 2004.

Sue is in her third year studying Economics at the University of Notre Dame and is in London as part of the University’s London Study Abroad Program. Sue visited London four years ago for a few days with her family and has wanted to come back ever since to really get to know the city. In addition to her classes, Sue decided to participate in an internship at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference as a way to meet more people and deepen her appreciation of her Catholic faith.  Sue tells us that already it has been, “a thrill to be surrounded by such incredible history and culture” in London and she hopes to experience much of what the city has to offer while she is here.

The Marriage and Family Life Project Office has hosted interns from the University of Notre Dame London programme since 2010. They have worked on a series of projects including the Catholic Marriage Preparation Survey, Grandparents Groups and the 30th Anniversary of Familiaris Consortio online archive.
