Bishop Peter Doyle, Chair of the Bishops’ Committee for Marriage & Family life is leading a delegation from England and Wales to the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia in September. The theme for this 8th World Meeting, which takes place from 22-27 September is “Love is our Mission: the Family Fully Alive”. Pope Francis will be joining pilgrims for the main public events – a celebration of family and a celebration of the Eucharist – over the weekend of September 26-27.
Travelling with Bishop Doyle are Katherine Bergin (Arundel & Brighton), Joanne White (Cardiff), Breda Theakston (Leeds), Mgr Vincent Harvey (Portsmouth), Margaret Hinton (Wrexham), Caroline Dollard, Hannah Moruzzi and Elizabeth Davies (Bishops’ Conference Marriage & Family Life Project Office staff). Also attending are Edmund Adamus (Westminster), Christine & Mike Evans (Catholic Grandparents’ Association, Arundel & Brighton). A contingent from Marriage Care will also be present: Mark Molden (CEO), Valentina Hansom, Cecilia Campbell and Kit Dollard (Chair) as well as representatives of the Catholic Grandparents’ Association, including Phil Butcher.
We are very grateful to the National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministers (NACFLM) in the US for sharing with us some of their room allocation for the World Meeting at the Pennsylvania Convention Centre.
