‘Does the Family continue to be good news for today’s world? I am sure the answer is yes! And this yes is firmly based on God’s plan.’ Pope Francis

The World Meeting of Families 2018 will be held in Dublin from 21 to 26 August 2018 on the theme: The Gospel of the Family: Joy for the World. The Holy Father intends it to be a great meeting of families; providing a global platform for the relaunch and rediscovery of marriage and family life in the Church and the modern world. The meeting will comprise a three-day Theological-Pastoral Congress, from 22-24 August, with a programme of keynote speakers, workshops and discussions; followed on 25 August by the Festival of Families: a special concert-style event with music, prayer and testimonies and concluding on 26 August with a solemn Eucharistic Celebration.

Although it won’t be confirmed until closer to the date, it is expected that the Holy Father will be in Dublin to preside over the celebrations on 25th and 26th August. Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love) will provide the main compass for informing WMOF18 and a year-long journey of catechetical preparation entitled Amoris: Let’s Talk Family, Let’s Be Family (launching on 21 August 2017). This faith development initiative is the response to Pope Francis’ invitation to reflect on Amoris Laetitia and explore its themes of love, marriage and family in preparation for next summer. The Amoris programme will include an interactive multi-media platform of free downloadable catechetical resources and promotional materials for use by parishes, families and organisations.

A five day ticket covering attendance at the three day Congress, Festival of Families and Final Mass will cost 68 euros online/78 euros on site. Children under 18 go free but must be registered with at least one adult. For more information on tickets and registration please visit:

Over the coming months we will let you know what’s happening nationally, and in your dioceses, to prepare for WMOF18 and how you can get involved.
